No problem! Stop in with a valid, up-to-date ID or if you haven’t updated your ID yet a lease/rental/mortgage agreement or utility bill  along with your ID and we’ll get you all set up.  You may complete the application at home or in the library.

Do you live in Montgomery County not in Pottstown / Upper Pottsgrove Twp / Lower Pottsgrove Twp /  West Pottsgrove Twp? (19464)

No problem! Stop in with a valid, up-to-date ID and we’ll get you all set up.  You may complete the application at home or in the library.  The application will be sent to Montgomery County Libraries-Norristown and you will receive a library card in the mail.

Do you live in Chester County? (19465)

Please bring your Chester County Library System card along with valid, up-to-date picture ID so we can put you in the Montgomery County system. If you do not have a Chester County library card, you may apply for it online or go to the closest Chester County library and apply in person. Please note online access to materials such as Hoopla and Libby  is limited to residents who live in 19464. 

Do you live in Berks County?

Please bring your Berks County Library System card along with valid, up-to-date picture ID so we can put you in the Montgomery County system. If you do not have a Berks County library card, you may apply for it online or go to the closest Berks County Library and apply in person. Please note online access to materials such as Hoopla and Libby  is limited to residents who live in 19464. 

Do you live in any other PA County?

If you live in any other Pennsylvania county, you must have a library card with an AccessPa sticker on it from your home library and a valid up-to-date picture ID, and we will link your card into our system. NOTE: Materials borrowed from other Montgomery County libraries may have different loan periods, based on the policies of the loaning library.  Materials borrowed from outside Montgomery County may require a small service charge and/or different circulation periods, based on the policies of the loaning library.

Lost or Damaged Items

Lost items, damaged items, or items returned without all components are charged at the cost of the item, plus a $6.00 processing fee in addition to any accumulated overdue fees.  If you have misplaced an item, please consult with library staff as soon as possible so that we can minimize your costs and replace any items that are in demand.

 

Access PA is a project of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Office of Commonwealth Libraries to provide a union catalog of libraries across the Pennsylvania. This catalog contains approximately 22.2 million titles.

Access PA facilitates resource sharing through inter-library loan among the libraries of Pennsylvania. Books or DVDs published in the past 6 months may not be requested through inter-library loan.

If you have a valid MCLINC library card, New materials may still be requested through MCLINC libraries.

Student Cards for ALL Students in Pottstown & Pottsgrove School Districts

Two School Districts + One Public Library = One Community!

 The Pottstown Regional Public Library is thrilled to announce a new partnership with both the Pottstown School District and the Pottsgrove School District to offer a Student Library card to EVERY Students in Pottstown Borough, Upper Pottsgrove, Lower Pottsgrove, and West Pottsgrove Townships. Our goal is to work together as a team to offer resources and services that enhance experiences, offer expanded knowledge, and develop lifelong love of learning. Literacy is power, so why not give our students the best resources available to them?

What are the benefits of the NEW PRPL Student Cards…

  • Each Student may have a total of 5 items checked out on their account at a time
  • Each Student may have a total of 5 items on hold at a time
  • Student Cards are fine-free – They will not be charged fines at any MCLINC library
  • There will be NO charges for lost/damaged materials
    • PRPL is covering the cost of any lost/damaged materials checked out to student cards. An “Angel Fund” has been established for this purpose. This fund was started by a generous donation from the Victory Bank Foundation.
  • Each Student Card has access to district online resources and databases
  • Students may borrow the following material types from all MCLINC libraries

What do we need to do to use the Student Card?

As long as you did not opt-out your student, the Student Card is active now! Students may come to the Pottstown Regional Public Library and check out materials. Simply show your Student ID at check out!

Can I use my Student Card for Online resources?

YES! Many of our resources are available on our website: https://pottstownregionalpubliclibrary.org/  If you need to enter a library card, simply enter your Student ID barcode. If you have any difficulty, call 610-970-6551 or email PottstownLibrary@mclinc.org and one of our talented staff will assist you!

How can you help strengthen the Student Card program?

  1. Visit the library to check out all the library has to offer! It is much more than books!
  2. Attend a program at the Library. There is truly an event or program for everyone.
  3. Check out the website and look at the electronic resources available.
  4. Make a gift to the Pottstown Regional Public Library to help offset operating costs and/or make a gift to the Angel fund. In 2024, it will cost the library $24.27 per person in our service area to keep the door open and the lights on. Our funding municipalities only pay $2.50 to $9 per capita. Your generosity ensures that all members of our community continue to benefit from our resources.
