Welcome to the youth services department! Located on the bottom floor of the library building, this area of the library has designed for children, youth, and teens ages 0-18. You will find everything from board books all the way up to young adult books, fiction, and non-fiction.
In addition to books, our department offers audiobooks, Wonderbooks™, Books with CD kits, DVD’s, and the use of 4 computers, 2 for ages 8 to 12 and 2 for ages 13 to 17. We are excited to offer a variety of STEM Educational Kits and Playaway Launchpad (pre-loaded tablets). We are adding new items to our collection each month.
Even during these unprecedented times, the library offers a wide variety of programs, there is something for everyone! These programs are not just entertaining, they are educational and help your child succeed in school and life. Currently, we are offering a variety of virtual programming as well as Grab and Go bags that can be picked up during curbside pick-up. A few of our virtual offerings include a weekly “Little Library” toddler Storytime interactive room, and a monthly, “Passports around the World” virtual presentation room.
There are lots more programs being planned! Winter and Summer Reading Programs, Maker Monday and Mindfulness video programs and virtual story times based on Every Child Ready to Read program parameters.
The Youth Services Department is also going to take advantage of this time we are closed to live programming to redesign our area to enhance early literacy, reading confidence and more.
