10 books to try reading challenge

10 to try is a reading challenge for adults ages 18+. This challenge is to help you broaden your reading horizons by reading different genres and authors. 

From January 1st-December 31st each year, try 10 different types of reading materials and earn prizes.

Log your reading in Beanstack and in Beanstack is where you will find the 10 different genres to try for that year. 

All adults who complete this challenge within the challenge dates will be entered to win a Pottstown Prize Pack valued at over $100. 

Each year the 10 to try reading genres will change! 

2021 Reading Genres:

  1. African American Author: Read a book by an African American Author.
  2. Banned Book: Be a rebel and read a banned book. Check out the ALA’s Top 10 Banned Book list here!
  3. Biography/Memoir: Read a biography or a memoir.
  4. Book to film: You know the book was better. Read a book that has been made into a movie. 
  5. Food: Read a book about food! If it has recipes try a recipe. Also did you know we have a cookbook club? Check our coming events carousel for this months ingredient and how you can join in!
  6. Long title: Read a book with a title that has more than 4 words in it.
  7. Native American Author: Read a book by an Indigenous author. 
  8. Staff Favorites: Ask a staff member to recommend a book to you. 
  9. Travel with Reading: Read a book set in a place you’ve never been.
  10. YA Literature: Step outside your genres and read a young adult novel.
